Location, Location, Location
One of the things I love the most about senior photography is the seniors of course :-) The second thing I love about senior photography is going on location. I constantly find myself driving around looking out the window thinking, "oh, this would be a cool place to shoot..." And I usually finish that sentence with a specific senior in mind (or even an upcoming senior). Because while I certainly have my favorite locations (Downtown Springfield, Southwind Park in Springfield, etc), I try to give my seniors a unique experience that represents their personality.
One of the things I've discovered over the past couple years is that the location doesn't have to exotic or large for that matter (but if you want to take me with you to Hawaii for a senior...shoot I'm there!). In fact, smaller can be better. Some of the coolest, unique pictures can be taken at the side of a road or a little cafe' or even a street corner.
Just over this past year I've done senior shoots in St. Louis (very cool btw), Turkey Run in Indiana (beautiful scenery), Funks Grove, the State Fairgrounds and Lincoln, Washington and Southwind Park plus many more. I loved every minute of each one!
And even though I have a list of locations in my mind, I'm always open to suggestions and I'm always willing to go wherever the senior wants to. I should probably add the disclaimer that my session fee includes travel approx 50 miles from MP (Peoria would be about the farthest), but if you're willing to cover my mileage for anything beyond that, I'm all for it. There are also times that locations charge a fee to shoot on their property. For those venues (Gillett Farm in Elkhart, the Fox Theater and the Selfie Room in Stl are a few that have fees), I again ask that you cover that fee ... but I'd love to shoot in those places (maybe could coordinate with another senior and do a location together) :-)
However, as much as I love going on location, sometime there's something to be said about studio portraits. There are so many fun ways we can make your studio shoot unique. I love shooting both on location and in the studio...it's whatever you want!
If you have an idea for a location, leave me a message here or on my Facebook page. If you're ready to book your first session and take advantage of the Senior Week $50 off session special, you can click here to see the available times for the next couple months.
As always, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your senior year! It means a lot to me :-)
